     Let groomsmen wear their own?

Early on I told my bridesmaids that they could choose their own dresses within a certain color pallet and as long as it was knee length. I think it's only fair to let the groomsmen choose their own suits, although I would limit them to one color of the suit and tell them to wear white shirts underneath. We would buy matching ties for all of them. But my mother is insisting that the guys get matching tuxes; I just feel like that's hypocritical: If we're going to let the girls save a buck, why not let the guys save money, too? What do you think? Can the guys be trusted as well as the girls can be?

Dear Wear their Own,

This is becoming more common for informal weddings. Although for the more formal wedding all men should dress the same, if your is informal, which it seems as if it is, it will be fine.

Best wishes,

Thanks, Rebecca. Our wedding is outside, so, no it's not formal. There are some formal elements (e.g., my dress), but the ceremony, etc., is definitely untraditional and "anything goes." Thanks for your advice.
