Morning suits for ceremony, black suits for reception

Is it acceptable to have the groom and his wedding party wear formal attire (morning suits) for the 1pm wedding ceremony and then have them change into black suits for a semi-formal evening reception?

Dear Aug1wed,

It is best if the formality is the same for both events. Plus, this would mean that your guests would be expected to return home to change. We shouldn't do this to our guests. These two events should be scheduled closer together if held on the same day. Expecting our guests to wait for the reception isn't polite.

Best wishes,
