I am having a summer outdoor wedding in the middle of July. I want to let my FH and his Groomsmen go without jackets for the wedding. Is this ok? I want them to wear vests and ties instead. My wedding will be around 2 in a garden. Here are pics of my dress and the bridesmaid dress. The color of the dress will be lavender and cream.

Dear Nikanik,
I couldnt disagree with you more. Jackets required. Its a wedding not a garden party, a wedding is the most formal event in one's life. Black or white tuxedo jackets are a must!

Could you suggest some lightweight materials so they wont be so hot? And after the wedding can they romove the jackets.

Ralph Lauren makes a new super 100's wool tuxedo for rent. And they may take their jackets off after the ceremony.

This is from an etiquette point of view:
If you were having a formal wedding, it most likely wouldn't be in the garden. We don't usually attempt a formal wedding outdoors in the heat. Plus, tuxes and tailcoats (more formal) are supposed to be worn for evening affairs with the sack coat or cutaway coat (more formal) for formal daytime affairs.
I didn't see your dress, but if it is less formal (tea length) your groom can wear less formal clothes also. There are very nice linen suits for less formal affairs.
Bottom line though, if you want your groom to wear what he is comfortable wearing and it looks good with your dress (in the same formality and color), why not go for it. Focusing on the degree of formality in both outfits will give you the correct answer.
