Open collar with tux?

I'm father of the groom and have been asked to wear a simple black tux. Got it. But the bride has insisted on no ties for the groom or any of the wedding party. This is an outdoor wedding in the spring in Texas. But why a tux if with open collars? Seems quite strange to me (I still love her). Is this a no-no?

Dear ETex2,

This will be fine, if this is what she wants and the wedding is not too formal. The problem would be if the wedding is being held during the day. The tux is formal evening wear.
