Should groom wear tux for afternoon wedding

We are getting married in mid September at 3:30 in the afternoon. They wedding will be held in a church and will be a semi-formal. My dress, which is ivory, pearl bodice details with a very long train, is the deciding factor to make this a more formal affair. With the wedding ceremony being held in church at 3:30 PM, what would the best choice for the mens attire be? Should they wear a tux or would a suit be better?
Thank You for your advice!

Dear Janabelle,

They could wear a suit or a morning coat. A tux is formal evening attire. The morning coat is the daytime version of the tuxedo.

Best wishes,
