I'm having an outdoor wedding at 5:30pm in the middle of May. The minister that is marrying us says he will wear whatever I want him to, but added that it is generally proper for the minister to be in a tuxedo on any ceremony after 4:00pm. I honestly can't remember a minister ever wearing a tuxedo, and it just seems odd for him to be in one. Am I wrong about this? In short, what is the proper attire for the minister?

Re: [Aggiegirl43] Tuxedo for the minister?

Dear Aggiegirl,
I would agree with you. It's a bit odd. Usually a minister wears robes. If he is not wearing a robe, he usually wears an understated suit. Afterall, he's not the groom!
As your minister has agreed to do what you prefer, just tell him your preference. Make it about what you, the bride, wants for your wedding, rather than about what is right or wrong, appropriate or inappropriate. That should resolve things and end the discussion.
