What design of tuxedo is okay for a Saturaday, 2:00pm ceremony?

The groom wants to get a "morning suit" - a tux with tails and pinstriped pants. He was also thinking of ivory vest and tie (to match my dress and the bridesmaids in ivory) and gray for his groomsman/ushers/etc.

I am unsure that a tails are appropriate at 2:00 in the afternoon. I am also not sure about the whole different colored vests and tie combination either, especially with the pants. I need to know what the "rules" are about what tux is "okay" to wear at 2:00 and what isn't?

Thanks!

Dear Tiger1,

A morning suit is just that for the morning, therefore 10 am -12pm. For a 2 pm wedding I suggest a black tuxedo with ivory accories, vest and tie, and for the groomsmen black tuxedos and silver vest and ties. A tail coat would be for a 6pm or later wedding and reception.
