I am the mother of the bride. Her father and I are separated. Should my escort wear a tux and if so should it be the same as the rest of the wedding party?

Dear Mother of the Bride,
No, your escort would be trying to blend into the background so as not to distract from you or the father of the bride. A suit would be best unless of course the guests are wearing tuxes. Then your escort could also, but not the same as the bridal party.
