     Who should pay for rentals?

My future mother-in-law recently told my fiance that hshe and my fiance's dad will not be able to afford to pay for the tuxedo rentals for all the groomsmen. She said she would pay for my fiance's and his brother (who is the best man). but we have two other groomsmen and a ring bearer. Is it proper to ask the groomsmen and ringbearer's mom to pay for the rentals? One of the groomsmen is a little tight on money, so I'm not sure he could afford it right now. What should we do?

Wedding attendants are expected to pay for their own clothing. Your groomsmen should have been aware of that fact before accepting. I you think your other groomsman cannot afford to pay you could offer to pay for him. If you are paying for him, though, you should offer to pay for the other groomsmen as well.
