I'm confused about what the groom should wear for a beach wedding. He refuses to wear a tux and even jokes about wearing a sheet or a wetsuit to our wedding (he hates tradition). I know he wants to look nice though. Do you have any suggestions? I was thinking a linen shirt with khaki pants or should he be dressed nicer than that?
Actually, a tux is supposed to be worn after 6 pm. So, for a wedding during the day, he wouldn't be expected to wear one. Most people don't know that and wear them anyway.
What he wears is based on the formality of your event. Yours is a beach wedding, so the outfit you describe sounds perfect.
My first question is to you. What are you wearing? A Bridal gown? Or something more casual? I think what you are wearing should determine what he will wear. If you are wearing a bridal gown, then he should wear a tuxedo, with maybe tropical island theme vest and tie or cummerbund and tie. A White tuxedo jacket with black pants would look nice, or maybe just all black with a fun accessory. But if this is a casual wedding then maybe linen pants, silk shirt, etc.....
A linen suit is perfect for your future husband to wear. Since the wedding is on the beach and during the day, it is completely appropriate. And especially since the groom doesn't like tradition, this outfit is perfect. He will feel comfortable, untraditional, and still look dressed up.
