father of the groom attire / father of the bride attire

Hello,

I am getting married outdoors on a friday early evening (4pm). My fiance and groomsmen are all wearing black tuxes. My fiance will wear a white vest and white tie, and the groomsmen will match my bridesmaids. QUESTION, what color vest and tie should my father wear? I was thinking black and black.

2nd Question - should the FOG wear a tux? My fiance's mother does not feel that a tux is necessary for him. She is going to have him wear a black suit that he owns already. Is this ok?

Thanks so much!

Dear To Tux or No,

The fathers should dress exactly as the groomsmen, vests and all. So, your future father in law should rent a tux.

Best wishes,
