The wedding will be in a Catholic church at 11, with the reception a tented affair on a hill nearby. The bride is wearing a long strapless gown, and the bridesmaids tea length blue dresses - garden type feeling. The groom wants to wear something less formal than a tuxedo. There are six groomsmen, and we don't know how to have them all wear suits that will coordinate. If we say gray suits, or beige suits, we're afraid they will all be different shades. The groom (my son) would like to wear a beige suit, but we feel it is too costly to ask everyone to buy a suit, and that we'd never get the color right. Any suggestions? Are there places where you can rent matching suits? The groom and several of the groomsmen would like a nice quality suit, but we feel it's financially unfair to ask the others to spend that much.
A tuxedo is evening formal wear anyway. So, that wouldn't be a good choice.
He could wear a suit, but unless the wedding is in warmer weather, the suit should be dark. Beige is fine for the summer.
He doesn't want to dress to formally, but if he chose a stroller, all of them could probably rent these. This is worn for semiformal weddings held during the day and is a very good choice.
This will be a May wedding in Virginia. He likes the beige suit idea, but again, we don't know how to make that happen for the groomsmen. So basically, for a nice look for the pictures, etc., the black stroller is the only option?
No. This is just probably just the best choice. Couples are more flexible in clothing choices these days. And, wearing lighter colors during the cooler months is not as much of a faux pas as it used to be.
He could wear the beige. It just probably isn't the best choice. Plus, the others would have to wear the same suit. All of the groomsmen and fathers dress the same. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
