     Black tie wedding in afternoon?

The wedding I have always pictured is a black tie wedding. However, at the place I want it, it is $14,000 for saturday night, and $6,000 (everything cake, open bar, etc. included for 130 people) for sunday afternoon. That is a lot of money for two 22 year olds. Is it still okay to make it black tie in the afternoon? The ceremony is 11:30 to noon and reception noon to 4. Thanks for your help.

No, black tie is formal evening attire (after 6 PM).

You could have your groom and groom's men in the equivalent of a tux, which is the cutaway (worn in the daytime). But, all of your elements would have to be formal as well.

Suits are your other alternative.
