I am getting married at a resort in May and I recently purchased a lovely white, floor length, light and airy A line gown that I felt captured the spirit of my personality: simple and elegant. Is is not a traditional wedding gown. Six weeks upon our return we will be hosting a tea party reception for our family and friends. My mother feels that my gown may not be formal enough, and is encouraging me to look for something else. I will be carrying this gown on our flight, and feel that anything else will not fair as well in high humidity, and/or, may not reflect my tastes and style... any thoughts? Is is possible for something to be too informal? Thanks.

Dear Loves the Gown,
I agree with your choice. A wedding gown should reflect the formality of the wedding. Your gown sounds as if it does.
