     Dying Dresses

Hi everyone. I am getting married for the 2nd time in March, 2006. I did not want a white dress, but it's all I could find in what I liked. Smile It is an informal dress. The tag says 100% polyester and it has some buttons and bead work on it. What I want to know is can this dress be dyed? I really want this dress to be a pale, pastel yellow and I went to Rit's web site and it says not to dye anything that is 50% or more polyester. Someone please help. Suggestions?

Polyester can be dyed only by boiling it for an hour with a special dye called disperse dye. To learn more about how to dye polyester, check out http://www.pburch.net/dyeing/dispersedye.shtml. The site also provides information on where to purchase the dye.

You might want to buy a scrap piece of fabric the same color as your dress, and test the dye process on that before attempting on your favorite dress.

Hopefully, you will be able to achieve the color you desire. If you don't mind, I'd love to see a before and after picture to see how well it works.

Thanks!
