I am having trouble with the attire for my groom and his groomsmen. We are being married at an outside gazebo overlooking the Caribbean ocean in August at 5:30 in the afternoon. Our wedding is fairly small due to it being a destination wedding, about 35-40 guests. I am wearing a white strapless Maggie Sottero A-line dress that I would consider a formal wedding dress. My 3 attendants are wearing t-length dresses (that is a variety of shades of tourquoise) from a store called Cache...not real formal but I would say maybe cocktail-ish. This dress but again in different colors - all tourquoise.
I am struggling with what my fiance and his groomsman should wear. I am leaning to have him wear a tuxedo since I am formal, but the temperature will be 85+ degrees. Do you have any other suggestions that he and also his groomsmen could wear that would be staying with similar formaily as I and my attendants will be wearing, keeping in mind it will be very hot? Also something that keeps the cost down, as we are paying for the attendants accomodations, but they have the rest of the travel expense to endure, and I feel bad asking them to purchase expensive clothes for the wedding, although this might not be avoidable! Thanks for your help. I should add that the gazebo will be decorated in flowers, the chairs with be covered with bows on the back and there will be a white runner down the aisle to the gazebo, so it is more on the "formal" side for an outdoor wedding.

Your bridesmaids' dresses are as you say more semi-formal (cocktail) than formal, which means that the groomsmen could wear a lightweight suit. But, this would be expensive for them to purchase. A white dinner jacket (tux) would be wonderful also because of your dress, the time of day, and the location. These could be rented, which may be less expensive than purchasing suits.
So, it is your choice to go with matching the formality of your dress (tuxes), or the formality of your ladies (suits). Finances should weight in heavily here.
