Gloves for a 5PM wedding

I have been told that you should never wear gloves until 7:00 pm. I am having a 5:00pm wedding that is formal and having a sitdown dinner afterwards. Is it ok for me to have the gloves at a 5:00 pm wedding that is formal?

I don't know where that 'rule' came from, but she is incorrect. You may wear your gloves.
