Matron of Honor - length of dress

This is a second wedding. I am wearing a floor length dress. Does the matron of honor also wear a long dress or can it be her choice. The groom is wearing a tux. Thanks for any help.

Dear Second Wedding,

Because your dress is formal in nature and the groom is in a tux, she should wear a long gown also. But, if you are only having one attendant, it is ultimately your choice. As long as she isn't too informal it should be fine. You would just want to avoid an imbalance in formalities.

Best wishes,
