     Mountaintop wedding attire

Hello! My fiance and I are getting married at a rock outcrop at the top of a mountain this coming June. There is a hike involved, not sure how much of one yet. What would I wear? A dress? White pants? Help please!

Thanks

Dear Hiking,

It is best to find out exactly what will be involved in your trek first. There is a safety issue here.

Wear what will be safe to wear.

Best wishes,

Be aware that in the mountains, the weather may be sunny below but the peak shrouded in fog in the best of weather. Depending on the weather (temperature and humidity), you might even experience what's known as an inversion, where the valley is shrouded in clouds and it's clear at the top. Now that would be awesome. Mountain tops are often subject to quick, sporadic rain showers as the clouds drop their moisture in order to make it over the top of the hill. Most often during hiking you'll start off warm in the valley, but end up very cool at the top and vice versa. So, be sure to dress not just for warm weather being June, but inclement weather in case you get doused. Consider taking a change of clothing, especially extra socks. Walking in wet socks can be miserable.

Are you planning on having any one witness the event besides the officiant and the powers that be? If so, the comfort of your guests should be a consideration.

Will you be having photographs taken (i.e. Do you plan on capturing the moment for later?)

Watch out for those shin splints! Enjoy!
