Okay to wear a red wedding dress?

I really love a few dresses that are apple red. I'm having a fall wedding and have been told that if I chose a solid red wedding dress, I'd regret it later in life. I've also been told about it being taboo to wear red, etc. I've looked through this forum for a few hours and can't find an outright answer.

Red wedding dress, yes or no, for a destination wedding on a ranch with semi-formal attire?
Thanks for your time. :-)

Dear Jmh,

Red is only taboo for guests, as we wouldn't want to distract or take away any attention from the bride--red is a powerful color.

In some cultures the bride wears red. I believe it is a beautiful color and is perfect for some people. In fact, my daughter is wearing a red top and white skirt for her wedding. It is a beautiful combination.

If you like it, go for it. It is appropriate and there are no etiquette 'laws' against it.

Best wishes,
