     On-line purchase: Dream or Nightmare?

Hi everyone!

I've been combing through the pages of Ebay for the past 3 weeks and keeping tabs on cute "possibles" and extravagant "nevers" (>sigh< a girl can dream...) But everytime I start to do some serious on-line shopping, I recoil and think of the horror I've faced buying other things on-line. What if the dress makes me look more 'Sack of Potatoes' than 'Saks Fifth Avenue'? It seems that one needs to try on The Dress and see the silhouette and how it falls on your curves to fall in love with it. Any advice for someone who's looking for on-line deals, finding some and scared to take the leap?

I understand why you'd be hsitant to shop online for such an important day but if you check with the seller to be sure the dress can be returned, check their ebay rating and then pay through paypal.com you should be fine. Shop early and if possible, go around to the local dress shops to try on dresses so that you can be sure of the style type that looks well on you. I remember when I was looking for my wedding gown I had an image in my mind of what it would look like. Well, after trying on a bunch of those styles, the shop owner asked me to try a more flattering style. I was hesitant but once I tried it, I saw she knew what she was talking about; the gown fit me well and flattered my figure. When you venture out to shop, be sure you have the appropriate undergarments too. Then, if you still want to shop online, get the style and maker and see if you can find someone selling it on ebay.

I shopped online for my wedding dress - it's a below the knee eyelet cotton dress from Bergdorg and Goodman. I had to have it altered but it was the only dress that matched what I wanted! Informal and simple. I spent a whole day shopping in Miami at Miracle Mile for a dress and found nothing. I also shopped for shoes at every imaginable store on foot and found nothing. I purchased 4 pair from Zappos online which offers free shipping and return in hopes that one pair would work but they did not. I returned them all with no hassles. I've found that the internet is a life saver. I also have purchased from ebay once - I would be careful with the wording and always use paypal and have the option of returning it... Good luck to you
