I am approx. a size 20, I am extremely worried about finding a dress that will fit, the wedding isn't until Aug. '07 and I plan on dieting, but I am nervous about going dress shopping due to the fact that most of the dresses probably won't fit me. Any advice you can supply me with is greatly appreciated.
This not a comfortable position you are in and I'd suggest that you call the local shops and ask what their top size for try ons would be. You also have plenty of time to have a dress made for you. Pick out a beautiful pattern and have a local seamstress make it for you. Don't put yourself in the position of feeling like you have to lose weight for your wedding. I am also a plus sized bride and I have found a few things very helpful. Depending on where you are, try asking at any regular Plus Sized stores where you buy your clothes normally what's available for wedding/formal wear. Most of the ladies there know firsthand or hear from other customers where the best stores are. If you don't have much in your area, try eBay. I found quite few plus sized wedding dresses, and it changes all the time.
And lastly, I can totally relate to wanting to trim down for your wedding. Everyone seems to do it, plus sized or not. It's a personal decision that only you can make. Deciding to adopt a healthy lifestyle for the long term is more sensible goal, but requires more dedication and effort. I'm not there yet, but I decided not to put that much pressure on myself for my wedding. I don't want to be lighter just at my wedding, I want it to last. Your health and happiness are what really matters and if you adopt a healthy, happy attitude then whatever happens will happen!
