Post wedding reception - Wear Wedding Gown ?

This wedding took place 9/1/07 in California, the home of the bride (approx 100 guests). The groom's family and friends all reside on the east coast, and therefore the groom's parents are hosting a post-wedding reception for the groom's family (approx 100 guests) in late October. Is it the custom for the bride to wear her wedding gown again ? (7 weeks later) ? Is it optional or inappropriate ? This post-wedding reception will be semi-formal at a beautiful wedding caterer with a live musician for entertainment/atmosphere. It will be on a Sunday afternoon but with a full dinner and a wedding cake. We also plan to have an automated, continuous slide show of the actual wedding for anyone who wants to view the ceremony and reception in California. We doubt the lady guests would wear long gowns to such an event but some people do expect to see the bride look like a bride ... please advise.

Dear Groom's Mom,

Wearing the bridal gown is optional, so it is the bride's choice. Some guests may want to see her in it though.

Best wishes,
