Small but formal wedding?

     Small but formal wedding?

I've having a small wedding for 50-60 friends and family (I honestly do not know that many more people!). My dress is a slinky, trumpet-style dress made with lace overlay and a chapel train. The reception venue is the smaller ballroom at a prestigious hotel (which only seats 60 because of the huge dance area). Really, no expense is being spared, so given my dress and the venue, I'd love to have a formal wedding with a glamorous feel - the men in tuxes, my 2 bridesmaids in long, trumpet-style dresses in champagne (very 'old Hollywood') and the guests in their formal eveningwear. My question is whether it's appropriate to have a deluxe, formal wedding for so few guests?

Dear Going for the Glitz,

Traditionally, the small wedding wouldn't be as formal. But, this is your wedding and it should be as formal as you wish. This isn't such a strict rule anymore.

If you want the men in tuxes, the event should be in the evening. This also isn't as strict a rule as in the past. But, it is followed and others just may notice if tuxes are worn during the daytime.

Best wishes,
