Theres a tear in my dress!! HELP!!

Hi everyone. I am not getting married until 2006 but I have already purchased my dress. It is ballromm style, huge skirt, with layers and layers of tulle like fabric. However, I discovered that it has a few tears in it, one of them about 4 inches long! How can this dress that cost me over $500 be saved??? I'd appreciate any suggestions! Thanks

Dear Theres a tear in my dress,

I would suggest that you take it to a professional seamstress in your locality and let them look at it to see what can be done.

Maybe the place that you bought the dress at will be able to suggest a place for repair or they might even have an in house seamstress.

If that doesn't work for you go to a reputable seamstress.

Thank you both so much! I called a seamstress and she suggested a few solutions. One would be to sew another layer on top of it to replace it. Another option is to use clear thread to sew the tears and the other is that since it has to be hemmed, the tears might actually be cut out of the dress entirely!
