Undergarments and shoes for an ivory wedding dress

Ive been a tomboy all my life so Ive found preparing my attire for my wedding to be EXTREMELY difficult!

I bought an ivory dress. It's very simple but I like it. I didnt realize before I bought it how hard it would be to match! I bought white shoes but they look horrible and now ive been trying to find ivory shoes to match but I cant find ANY that I like. I dont want super high heels or pumps. I want a semi-flat or slightly raised sandal but cant find any like that anywhere. And then theres the problem of my strapless bra. Bought one - its white and of course you can see it through the dress! Same with panties. And now that Ive tried on the dress a few times it looks to me like its too big. It doesn't fit my bust the way it looks in the photo with another girl wearing it.

I am at a loss and ready to give up! What do I do with my dress? No shoes to match, all my undergarments see-thru! Someone suggested I go get it altered but I don't know where because I bought the dress online. Im on a budget and I dont want to spend a ton of money on this stuff! I feel like starting over completely even with the dress but that would cost more because I cant return the dress! I feel so stupid and I really need help!

THANKS FOR ANY ADVICE YOU CAN GIVE!!

Not to worry...
Take your dress to a local seamstress. You can find one at a dry cleaners or in the yellow pages (or ask around for referrals). Get a swatch of the fabric from the online retailer, if you can, or from a piece that the seamstress may have to cut off. Take the swatch to an undergarment store and buy underwear that compliments the color of the dress. If you have dark skin try to match the color of your skin to the underwear and be sure to try it all on with the dress. It would be best if you could find a bridal shop which also sells undergarments since they will know how best to help you. Do the same when shopping for your shoes since white shoes will make your dress look dingy. You don't have to match the shoes exactly but try to get close to the same shade of ivory.

Here is a cute flat pair of bridal shoes that come in ivory. Also Azalea Bridal Shoes and Snapdragon look like they have fairly little heels.

Have fun shopping.

I totally agree! Don't panic! You can also:
  • Have your shoes dyed to match the dress
  • Or, have gold-tone sandals or shoes instead! Get a purse to match them, and this set will be "re-usable" for ANY special occasion!
  • Get your undergarments in "nude" or "skin tone"color to match your skin tone. That way, they won't show through the dress
  • As was already advised to you, have your dress altered! They do alterations at dry cleaners' and they do them at major department stores. Your choice!

Relax and enjoy your wedding!
