Wearing Wedding Dress from previously canceled Wedding

Is it appropriate for my daughter to wear a wedding dress that was purchased but never worn for a wedding that was canceled by her former finance'? She doesn't want to wear it so should I require her to pay for a new one?

Of course your daughter doesn't want to wear that dress. I don't blame her. I'm sure all she can think about when she puts it on is the former love that failed. Bad karma.

As mother of the bride, you're not obligated to buy anything for the wedding. So, if you can't afford to buy her a new wedding dress or you just don't want to buy a new one, she should buy it for herself. I'd encourage her to try to sell the former dress on ebay or to a local consignment shop to help recoup the cost.
