Wedding Gown for Very Informal Ceremony

My fiance and I want to have a small simple ceremony, just the two of us, no party etc. I would still like to wear a wedding gown and have a photographer. Is this odd? I don't see why I should have to miss out on those things just because I don't want a huge wedding. Something tells me it's not proper, but who is going to see what I wear? We're going to be alone!

Can I wear the dress of my dreams, even if I have an informal ceremony?

Dear Jl,

Even if your ceremony is small and private, it can be as formal as you wish. The size of the wedding is only one element of formality. So, just keep all of the other elements formal and you should be fine.

Best wishes,

I agree with you. Who will know? Etiquette is essentially in place for other's comfort. Dress to please yourself and your groom.
