I have a daughter who will be 8 months pregnant at time of wedding. She is planning on a wedding that is more for a bride who is not pregnant (more of a traditional formal wedding). My suggestion would be to have a simple downscaled styled wedding. Any suggestions.

Are you asking a question regarding her dress? Please be a bit more specific about what you're asking.

I am sorry. Yes, it is the dress, but also the wedding plans.

I don't believe this is a subject that Peggy Post and the other respected etiquette experts have addressed - yet. But, here is an article on pregnant brides which you may find interesting. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".

Actually, I'm wrong. In the book "Letitia Baldridge's New Manners for New Times, just published this year, she states:
A bride in her early pregnancy can wear a simple, loose-fitting, long white dress that does not shout her happy, blessed state to the guests. A bride who is 9 months pregnant but nevertheless marries in a large ceremony, dressed in a long white dress with a train looks - in the opinion of many - ludicrous. It is in better taste for the bride a long white maternity dress with a short veil, but without the fuss of a full length veil and cathedral train. Restraint and good taste are important in any religious ceremony.
In Peggy Post's latest book she says that white is acceptable for pregnant brides since the color white has become a sign of joy rather than virginity. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".

I completely agree. Today, we see much more of this. The wedding your daughter envisions should be fine as long as the dress doesn't seem too tight. In fact, I have seen maternity wedding dresses. This may be a good alternative. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now

Thank you. This is what I have been trying to tell her. She has decided to go with a special occasion dress that we are modifying with trim to make the dress "hers".
