     color of dress

Hi. I'm attending a formal wedding in the middle of October and bought a formal dress that almost goes to the floor. The only problem is is that it is black with blue sequins/glitter. From far away the sequins and glitter make the dress look a very dark blue. Is it okay to wear a black dress at a wedding? Or should I go and buy a different dress that isn't black? I know a few years back, most people wouldn't wear a black dress.

Dear Afraid of Black,

The great news is that black is in. We can even wear it during daytime weddings. To that I say, "Yea". The only potential problem is the sequins. Unless this is very formal evening wedding it may be too formal.

Best wishes,

Don't let anyone tell you that it is inappropriate to wear black to a wedding. I would say the only person that shouldn't wear black is the bride, but look at Sarah Jessica Parker...she wore a black dress to her own wedding! Black is a classic color and it will be perfect to wear to your wedding.

Have fun!
