First off, I would like to say 'thank you' for the time and energy put into answering the many questions that arise during wedding planning.
I, personally, have a question concerning formality of my wedding dress and bridesmaids/groom/groomsmen attire as compared to formality set by time/place/setting of the ceremony and reception.
My fiance and I will be wed on a Sunday in July. Our reception will be held in a ballroom (tiffany blue painted walls with black and white checker painted wooden floorboards) of a gorgeous ocean front hotel. Our ceremony will be on their front lawn overlooking the ocean at 5:30 PM. Our cocktail hour will be located on the veranda from 6-7 and the sit down served meal at 7 PM, reception lasting until 11. We will have approximately 80 guests. We are a laid back couple who simply want to share our love for one another, the beach, and our friends and family during this occasion.
My fiance's aunt will be making my wedding dress which I believe is very informal due to the material used as well as length and lack of a train. It will also be a creme colored coral. My bridesmaids will be wearing very informal bridesmaids dresses which will fall just below the knee. I have attached both a picture of my wedding dress as well as the bridesmaids' dresses. My fiance hopes to wear khaki linen pants with a lightweight coral linen shirt to compliment my dress. The groomsmen in the same attire with shirts complimenting the bridesmaids' colors.
Will the informal dress attire coincide with the level of formality created by the venue site, sit down served meal, and evening wedding? We hope to keep the wedding as informal as possible (large tropical flowers in our hair, guests permitted to wear semi-casual attire) as this is a beach wedding.
Any advice (or reassurance) would be greatly appreciated!
