sister of Groom who will be reading at ceremony- what should i wear to church

Hello,

I am to be performing a reading at my brother's wedding ceremony. Would it be suitable to wear my knee length, spaghetti strap, black with royal blue satin ribbon (only below breast) empire dress (mainly black) with 3" royal blue heels?

I was thinking that maybe the dress would be a little too dressy for the church ceremony. Especially since I will be reading and have to go up steps to the altar.

Would it be all right to wear nice slacks and nice shirt to the ceremony and then change for the reception or before the family pictures? Crazy Thank you so much for your help

Dear Jomo,

Your dress or outfit should be slightly less formal than the attendant's or like the best dressed guest. But, spaghetti straps seem too revealing for church. We should dress conservatively out of respect.

It is best not to change if at all possible.

Best wishes,
