wedding attire: long black dress for her, dark suit for him?
Hello,
My husband and I have been invited to an indoor wedding in September. The wedding is not black tie, but I know it will be very formal anyway. I was thinking to wear a long black dress with diamond earrings and bracelet. The dress is simple -no beads, laces ,ect- but very elegant. My husband will not be wearing a tuxedo though, but rather a dark suit with a nice tie. Will I be looking too dressed up compared to him? Thank you.

Can you give us more details about ceremony and reception such as time of day, location and how you know the level of formality? Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".

The wedding is in the evening. The location is an Opera House and speaking with some of the relatives of the bride and the groome, I learned it will be formal. Thanks

The location screams formal. So, I think your dress will be perfect. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now

...since I will be wearing a long black dress will then be fine for my husband to wear a dark suit? Again, although it is a formal wedding this is NOT a "black tie" one. Thanks for your help.

It not really the length of a dress that dictates its formality. It is the material, appearance, and embellishments. Yours seems simple, yet elegant. So, just because your dress is long doesn't mean that your husband should wear a tux. Your husband could wear a tux or suit. It is his choice.
You will probably see both worn. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
