     Can wedding guests wear white?

Is is wrong for a wedding guest to wear a white dress if you are not the bride? The one I was contemplating wearing has a bright colored sash, so it wouldn't be completely white...would this be frowned upon?

Althought the rule about not wearing black or white to a wedding is now being bent a bit (black is now becoming very popular for semi-formal to formal evening weddings), you should really avoid wearing a white dress, even if you add some dashes of color. Why take the chance that you may upstage the bride on her day of days? There are so many beautiful colors and choices for fabrics, if possible select another dress.
