     Hair longer than Veil?

My FH likes me to wear my hair down and straight. My dress has an open back. I want a veil that won't cover the back of my dress, so I was thinking of a shoulder length veil. However, my hair is about mid-back length and I will be wearing it down and straight for the ceremony. Would it be totally inappropriate for my veil to be shorter than my hair and have my hair hanging out from underneath it? Would that look terrible?

If your hair is longer than your veil it will look awkward. You should have the illusion from the front that your hair is down, but from the back it will really be pulled up a little to lift the hair and make it shorter. This would be best especially so you can see the details in the back of your dress. If your hair is that long it will cover the back of the dress, so by pulling it up some you are solving two problems...your hair looking nice with your veil and seeing the back of your dress. As for your veil length, it would look best (since you are keeping it short) to be a 1/2 inch longer than your hair.

Good luck,
