I heard that a veil is only appropriate to wear if it is your first wedding. Is there any truth to that? If so, why? If not, are there any guidelines for types of veils. My dress is spagetti strap, chiffon empire with soft flowing satin A-line bottom draping into a chapel train. Very simple but quite elegant. Thanks for your help.

Re: [marymary] Is a veil appropriate for a second wedding?

Mary -
What you're referring to is the blusher veil (worn over the face) which is not considered appropriate for a second wedding since traditionally this is worn over the face, lifted up and way by the father of the bride who would be "giving away" his daughter to her groom. Since you've already been "given away", among other obvious reasons, it would seem inappropriate to have a blusher veil.
You can wear a veil (worn down the back) for a second wedding. Just be sure to match it to your dress style and formality.
