I am 59 years old and getting married for the second time - my husband to be has never been married. We are being married in St John, USVI overlooking the ocean. This will be a very small wedding with only 10 guests. Would it be appropriate for me to wear a short veil? My dress is tea length but very simple.

Re: [upthere] Wedding veil for a second wedding?

Heck...you're not all that "up there"! Second weddings in the "fall" of our lives are becoming more and more prevalent these days. But, congratulations on finding love again.
Etiquette states that second time brides can, and in some religions must, wear a veil. You should consider the formality of your wedding when choosing to wear a veil or not. If your wedding is going to be small and/or very informal then forgo the veil and wear some flowers in your hair or maybe a hat. If your wedding is formal or semi-formal then choose a veil to match the style and formality of your wedding and the dress you choose. Second time brides should not wear a blusher veil (over the face) since this is reserved for the young, first time brides.
