I read the only post I could find on here regarding wigs & veils. My question is a little backwards from that one. I already have a wig style that I wear all of the time and will probably wear for my wedding.
However, I'd really like to have a veil but I'm afraid of the weight and or placement of a haircomb/tiara/etc. might cause the whole set up to fall off, especially if I get bumped or snagged on something.
Does anyone have any suggestions for styles of veils or headpieces that wouldn't weigh me down and would work with a wig. Unfortunately I don't have the option of natural hair or weaving or anything and I want a traditional look (no hats). I just want it to stay on my head (I've already decided it will probably come off for the reception so I'm not nervous about it all night).
Veils and headpieces are not all heavy. You will need to go a few bridal salons and actually try on different styles to gauge what will work. Don't panic or think negatively about it staying in your hair. Salon associates have experience working with all types and should be able to guide you to select something that will be perfect for you. Rhonda Allen, Bridal Consultant New Beginnings Weddings
Agreed. Bridal headpieces /ornamentation need not (should not) be heavy. Stay away from heavy "jewels"
Millinery flowers, feathers, "Poofs" of Russian veiling and or tulle should be very lightweight and appear to have landed ever so lightly atop you head. Let me know if I can assist you with something custom made to suit you, your wig and gown.
Regardless of what you wear,I'm sure you know the general precautions to take in order to keep your wig on tightly. Extra tightening of the band at base of neck will also be helpful. You're going to be and look perfect on your wedding day. You'll see. Best Wishes Gena Conti, Designer, Milliner http://www.genaconti.com
