wearing a tiara, mother in law wants a veil

HELP! I have a beautiful tiara that i am wearing for my June wedding. It's silver with a floral beaded design. My future mother in law insists that i wear a veil for my wedding because it's tradition. The wedding is not a full traditional wedding. My mother is fine with me not wearing a veil, why can't my fiance's mother be happy with my decision? I'd rather have my hair put up with a strand of fake pearls woven through it in the back. I'm not sure what to do about this. I want to be on good terms with his mom, but she's driving me absolutely crazy!

Dear in the middle:

You can still have what you want and honor the tradition to keep peace. It may not be exactly what you want, but it will help relieve some of the tension because it sounds like you do want a good relationship with your soon to be Mother In Law.

Wear the tiara and veil for the ceremony. I've helped many a Bride do this and it looks absolutely beautiful. After the ceremony, and if you are taking photos between the ceremony and reception, get a photo or two with the veil on. This will be important to your future MIL. Then, have someone remove it. At the reception, wear the tiara only for the remainder of the evening. I hope this helps a bit.

Best wishes,
