I am getting married next June in a garden followed by a reception in a restaurant overlooking the ocean. My wedding dress is quite formal, princess style ivory strapless sweetheart neckline dress with some detailing (but limited sparkle). I have a vintage rhinestone necklace, braeclet and earrings to go with the dress as well. My hair is medium to long and I am hoping to wear my hair partially up, curled and down over one shoulder. I am planning on purchasing a two tier finger tip veil with some rhinestone or crystal accent trim.
All that brings me to the dillemma of hair jewelry. I have always wanted to wear a tiara on my wedding day and have been looking at rhinestone tiaras that will complement the necklace. I have also been looking at hair jewelry whether small accent clips for use in the back or a larger rhinestone floral clip. Would it be too much to have both rhinestone clips in the back and a tiara with a detailed veil? Any suggestions would be much appreciated as I'd like some sparkle but don't want to overdo it.
Thanks.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Since you are wearing your hair curled down over one shoulder, you can put either a rhinestone comb on the side, or add a few sparkly accent with rhinestone hair picks to the "updo" portion of your hair. You can go 'lighter" with the tiara in this situation, not to overwhelm the overall style. You can also look at some "comb" tiaras, which are very popular these days and not too overwhelming, which will go well with your other hair accessories. Enjoy the wedding! Sounds lovely and you have a good handle on what you want. From experience, I would get a trial run of your hairstyle any time. I know this sounds early, but try your idea of a side hairstyle now. Make sure to wear a white tub top and use a safety pin to create the sweetheart look as best as possible. Even if you have to, cut up an old tee shirt and make something, if you don't have your gown available. Some times I have had brides who were very set on a look but once they saw it in real life they changed their mind. Have it photographed from all angles as this is a unique look and you need to see it from all sides. Also seeing it now will help you choose your head accessories and show up how much you still need to grow it out. Ask your gown shop if you can borrow a veil in the style you like as well as any tiaras if they will allow it. A double layer veil will not allow your hair to be seen through it as well either. Any time I did a side hairstyle, it was balanced off on the other side with a hair clip or flowers, but your look may be fine as you envision it. Also shop the antique shops and look on-line for a brooch or pin to best complement your vintage jewelry as newer items may not match as well. If you find a brooch it could easily be wired onto a hair comb or tiara or hair clip to work with your total look.I put brides into two categories. The hair bride or the veil bride. With the main focus being on either the hair or the veil. But once in a while a bride has dreams for both, plus you have vintage jewelry!! You are my kind of bride!! You can have sparkle every where but keep scale in mind. Not too much, not too high or not too many clips. Keep me posted as things progress. Best wishes.
