     Are wedding programs necessary?

Are wedding programs necessary? I was hoping to have a semi-formal affair with close family and friends begining in the afternoon and stretching into the evening. Thanks for your help.

No, programs are not necessary, especially if you are planning an informal wedding. Enjoy!

They are not necessary, but do plan to share with your guests the information you would have otherwise put into the program somehow - either through introductions during dinner, or through a toast thanking people by name and role. Guests do like to know who was standing where and why.

While I agree programs aren't required, they do make a nice keepsake. Smile
