Groom Parents - List as in Wedding Party or Not?

We are hosting our own wedding with a casual civil ceremony, and the guests will stand so there will be no special seating. My parents are deceased and the groom's parents are not participating at all in the planning or the ceremony. I would like to include the groom's parents on the program, but since they are not part of the wedding party, can I list them as "special guests"? Or are they considered part of the wedding party by default and should be listed as such? Thanks!

Dear KatieKees,

The program is totally your call, the grooms Parents can be listed but shouldn't be listed with the wedding party.

You could list:

Bride's Parents:

The late Mr. and Mrs. xxxxx

Grooms Parents:

Mr. and Mrs. xxxxx

You may want to list your parents with a 'in memoriam' before their names though.

Thank you both very much! I'm going to do as you advise and feel better knowing I'm not inadvertantly slighting anyone.

It's wonderful and a breath of fresh air to read of someone so worried about others.

Thank you.
