Listing pre-reception party in the wedding program

My daughter is getting married at 12:30 and the reception is not until 6:30. Is it proper to put in the wedding program that I am a having a pre-reception luncheon at my home while the bridal party is having photos taken? I am stumped on this. Thank you.

Dear Skampf,

It is best for guests to be officially "invited" to the luncheon. So, you would send invitations or include enclosures with the wedding invitations with this information.

It is not polite to ask and expect guests to wait hours in between the wedding and reception, especially just for photos. So, it is very gracious of you to host this luncheon. Hopefully your daughter will change her plans a bit to focus more on her guests though--when we invite, we are then hosts.

Best wishes,
