Other Terminology for "Maid of Honor"

My MOH is 43 years old, and has been going through a period of depression about still being single when she had always hoped for marriage. I know she is sensitive to terms ususally associated with young singles, like "maid", even though it is technically correct. Is there another title I can use in the program? I've heard "Honor Attendant" but don't know what it means or if it's appropriate. There are no bridesmaids, only MOH, hopefully precluding confusion over who is who in the party if I use an alternate title. I'm sure she won't be upset over the traditional MOH title but she would be ecstatic to see something that doesn't emphasize her "still unmarried" status. I'd love to do that for her if there is another acceptable title.

Dear Kungphuey,

I commend you for being sensitive to your friend but Maid of Honor is the greatest honor of all the attendants. Changing the name to honor attendant deminishes the value and probably won't do anything to help your friend's depression.

I had not thought of it that way, and you make an excellent point. I'll stick with the traditional title.
