What will guests do between ceremony and evening reception

We are planning an Aug 1st wedding and the only time available in the church we want is 1:30pm which leaves a significant amount of time between the ceremony and the reception which will be in a hotel ball room. I understand that it is not polite leave the guests to fend for themselves for a few hours in the afternoon, so what could we do to fill up this time?

Dear Aug1wed,

My first suggestion would be to find a different date or venue. Other than that, it might be nice to rent a room to house your guests and provide refreshments before the reception for their comfort. The focus should be on providing your guests with some sort of entertainment or comfort during the time they have donated toward your event.

Best wishes,

I agree and would like to add that you may also want to provide a guided tour of local interest of a close by museum, etc.
