Wording wedding program to include stepmother

Hello,

I am having trouble with the wording for my program to include my stepmother - who hates being referred to as a stepmother and who is a Dr to make the wording that much more difficult!
Does this seem right to you?:

Father & Stepmother of the Bride: Mr. & Dr. John & Joan Smith
Mother of the Bride: Ms. Sandy Smith

My stepmother is super sensitive to the title "stepmother". Is there another way of phrasing this? Also, does it make sense to put "Mr. and Dr. John and Joan Smith"? It sounds weird to me. I am so confused! Please help! :)

Dear Shmayn,

It may be best to list them as Father of the Bride and wife.

There is a little known, obscure rule about not separating a man from his last name. Most still follow this without knowing that they are doing it. So, it may be best to list their names as: Dr. Joan and Mr. John Smith. Plus, we would list the person with the highest title first.

Best wishes,
