Wording wedding program when maid of honor is a man.

Similar to the question about the mother as the Best Man, in writing the ceremony program, how does one acknowledge a man as the "maid/matron" of honor? Also, if a woman is a Groomsman, how is she listed?

Thanks for your help!

Either of these people could be called an honor attendant.

Thanks for your assistance. I did assume that Honor Attendant would be the proper term to use. Thanks for confirming.

This term is easily applied for the Bride's person of Honor, in the written format of the program under "The Wedding Party", however how would one format the program for the Groomsmen section while identifiying the woman as a person of honor...list her directly after the Groomsmen heading under a heading of her own called Honor Attendant?

Is there a need to distinguish between the other Honor Attendant and this one, or will the placement on the list be sufficient?

Instead of using the heading "Groomsmen" use "Groom's Attendants" and "Bride's Attendants."

Thanks so much!

That's what I thought. I submitted a new post last night (10/20/07) that mentioned that exact term, however I didn't separate the words properly. Thanks for the confirmation and the correct way to write it, as well as to use the term attendant with the Bride's people.

Honor Attendant, Bride's Attendants and Groom's Attendants...perfect!

This is a very helpful website...it's very comforting to have any doubts cleared up by the experts.
