Catholic/Protestant Dual Ceremony In A Catholic Church

I'm Catholic (Bride) and my fiancé is Protestant. My fiancés father is a retired Protestant Minister, and I was wondering if we could get married in a Catholic Church and have both a priest and his father hold the ceremont?

Yes, absolutely! My husband and I were wed by his priest and my minister and it was a lovely ceremony. There are certain portions of the ceremony, such as the vows, that will need to be done by the priest but the reading of scripture and a few words would be such an honor for your fiance's father!

Please talk with your priest to see what arrangements can be made for both clergy to participate. With over forty percent of Catholic weddings being interchurch, with one Catholic and one non-Catholic spouse, there is plenty of precedent for your wedding to be performed by a priest and minister.

God bless you both.
