I recently attended a wedding and two cell phones rang during the ceremony. At my wedding, how can we politely remind guests to turn off cell phones or set them to vibrate?

Ah, many a bride and groom has asked me to make this request of the congregation! It is a good idea.
Ask your officiant to say something to the following effect:
"On behalf of the bride and groom, we welcome you all here today! Before we begin we would like to remind everyone to please silent your cell phones if you have not done so already."
Or you can ask your wedding coordinator or someone in charge of things to make the announcement before you begin.

I completely agree. This is a polite and courteous way to request cell phone silence.
This cell phone mania makes me wonder though, why would someone have to be available every second of the day? I really don't get it. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
