Is it true that the wedding usually takes place in the girl's (bride's) church?

That is traditional, yes.

Having said that, sometimes the wedding takes place elsewhere due to logistics (i.e. the bride lives elsewhere now) or various religious reasons (i.e. the bride is converting to the groom's religion, or the couple does not want a religious ceremony.)

In today's contemporary society, a wedding ceremony is often held in a church or chapel - either the bride or groom. Often, this choice has to do with availability, location, timing/dates, etc. Also, wedding ceremonies are also held many times outside of a church setting - and the location in a non-religious environment is most often a joint decision by the couple.
